Every EverlyGoods candle starts the same way: with the jars lined up on the workbench, the wax weighed out, and an afternoon with nowhere else to be. We pour in small batches because that's how you catch the details that machines miss — and because, honestly, it's the part we love most.
It starts with clean jars and centered wicks
Each amber jar is wiped clean and warmed slightly so the wax adheres smoothly. Then comes the step that separates a good candle from a great one: centering the wick. A wooden wick holder keeps the wick perfectly straight and centered while the wax sets — an off-center wick is what makes a candle burn unevenly later.
Wax, temperature, patience
The wax is melted slowly and checked with a thermometer — fragrance added too hot burns off before it ever reaches your room, and poured too cool, it sets with rough tops. There's a window of just a few degrees where everything comes together, which is why we never rush this part.
The pour and the long wait
Pouring is the quietest moment: a slow, steady stream from the pitcher into each jar, one after another down the row. Then the candles rest for a day or more, undisturbed, while the wax binds with the fragrance. It's tempting to light one early — we know, we've tried — but the wait is what gives a candle its full scent throw.
Trimmed, labeled, packed by hand
Finally, each wick is trimmed to a quarter inch, every jar gets its label, and every candle is packed by hand with a note we actually write. Small-batch means we know each candle before it leaves — and when you light one, you're finishing a process that started with someone steadying a jar on a wooden bench.
That's the whole story: clean jars, a patient pour, and a long rest. Nothing about it is fast, which is exactly the point.
